All Scientech electronic balances and their accessories are warranted
against defects in materials and workmanship within North America
for three (3) years and all other areas for two (2) years from the
date of delivery(only the ZETA Series offers a 5 year warranty).
During the warranty period, Scientech will repair, or at its option
replace at no charge, components that prove to be defective.
The equipment must be returned, shipping prepaid, to Scientech's
product service facility located in Boulder, Colorado. This
limited warranty does not apply if the equipment is damaged by accident
or misuse or as a result of service or modification by other than
a Scientech service facility. The foregoing warranty is in
lieu of all other warranties expressed or implied including but
not limited to any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness,
or adequacy for any particular purpose or use. Scientech,
Inc. shall not be liable for any special incidental or consequential
damages whether in contract, tort or otherwise.
Many people call us asking if our web site is correct listing 5
years on a Zeta
Series (ZSA, ZSE & ZSP) verses 3 years on SA80(Series
10K) and it does seem very strange. The Zeta ZSA80 cost less
than the SA80 yet both weigh 80g x 0.0001g and the warranty on the
less expensive unit has a longer warranty - what am I missing.
Here is how Tom Campbell explains Scientech's reasoning on warranty.
"The reason a Zeta models has a 5-year warranty is due
to the unique weighing sensor design. This new design is based
on our new, proprietary technology that is very resistant to suspension
damage, unlike most lever based designs, even our own Series 10K
design. That is why we have applied for a patent.
In addition, this new design is not as complex as a lever design
which makes it less costly to manufacture. Then we pass this
savings along to the customer in lower prices.
This does not mean that the Series 10K design is junk. The
Series 10K has a better repeatability spec, can accept internal
weights on the SA models, can do below balance weighing, and can
handle higher capacities for the same readability."
